About the Position
We are in search for a candidate who is excited about working with design, 3D Scanning, with a a background in mechanical design. The right person prefers a fast-paced environment, is a self-starter, and works well with customers, alone or with a team. The customer site is where we execute much of the 3D scanning, so travel is part of this job. When in the office the 3D Technician/Mechanical Drafter will design, reverse engineer, 3D print, and complete other related and/or assigned work.
Job Objectives and Responsibilities
- Perform 3D scanning services based on the customer’s needs including operation of 3D scanners, scan data processing, reverse engineering, and part inspection
- Design a wide variety of products and equipment such as consumer products, packaging, tooling, automotive components, automation, etc.
- Using CAD, prepare 3D models for rapid prototyping and 3D rendering
- Produce 3D printed parts by operating 3D printers effectively and safely
- Create graphical representations of mechanical equipment
- Analyze design or requirements information for mechanical equipment or systems
- Discuss designs or plans with management, co-workers, and clients
- 3D scanning
- One to three years of experience utilizing SolidWorks
- Must work safely
- Ability to travel to a customer location and work several consecutive days, staying overnight; this can occur up to 25% of the year
- Able to succeed in a team environment and at times work independently; must be dependable
- Goal oriented and able to manage time towards goals
- Must have attention to detail and diligence
- Critical thinking and analytical thinking skills as well as innovation
- Effective communication skills, listening, oral and written
- Problem sensitivity and the ability to take action as needed to manage risk
- Adaptable and flexible
- Proven ability to apply mathematics to solve a problem
- Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Associates degree in Computer Aided Design (CAD), Manufacturing or Engineering
- 3D Software: Geomagic, PolyWorks, zBrush, Blender
- 3D printing
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Google Workspace: Sheets, Docs, Gmail, Calendar, Slides
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Constantly operates a computer and other technology, including equipment related to 3D scanning and 3D printing
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Constantly traverse within NeoMek location, client location or, while 3D scanning, move within the object being scanned
- Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds from location to customer site and back to our location
- Must be able to safely move equipment around item(s) being scanned, this may occur over an extended period
- The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
- Occasionally exposed to work in outdoor weather conditions
- Occasionally exposed to work indoors with uncontrolled temperature, noise, etc., such as in manufacturing locations
- Occasionally positions self, including kneeling and crawling
- Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder
